Why is the consultation paid?
Because it is a working engagement with a deliverable, not a pitch. The report stands alone and can be executed by anyone — which also keeps our advice honest: we do not need to sell you a deployment to be paid.
Are open-weight models really as good as ChatGPT?
On most business tasks, current open-weight models are in the same class — and connected to your documents (RAG), they routinely beat generic cloud answers. The assessment benchmarks them on your data before you spend anything on deployment.
We don't have a data center. Can we still run private AI?
Yes. A single GPU server, your existing rack, or your own account on an EU cloud (Hetzner, OVHcloud, Scaleway) all work. The report sizes the hardware to the workload — you buy nothing before it.
Isn't this more expensive than paying per token?
It has a different shape: fixed setup plus predictable running costs, versus usage-based fees that grow with adoption. Typical break-even is 4–14 months depending on volume — your report computes yours before you decide.
Do we have to stop using cloud AI completely?
No. In most setups, local models handle the sensitive majority of the work; cloud APIs can keep the hardest non-sensitive edge cases — if you want them at all. The boundary is defined in the report, and it is yours to set.
Does this make us GDPR and AI Act compliant?
No vendor can honestly promise that — and you should distrust any that does. What we deliver is a compliance-first architecture: EU data residency, access control, logging and documentation that give your DPO and counsel what they need to sign off. GDPR applies today; AI Act obligations phase in from 2026, and the report maps which ones touch your use cases.
Who maintains it after go-live?
Your IT team, with our documentation and a full handover — or an optional monthly managed retainer for monitoring, updates and model upgrades, scoped in the report. Never mandatory.
How does payment work?
No online payment. The assessment price is fixed in writing on the call; you pay by bank transfer with a regular invoice. EU businesses with a VIES-registered VAT number pay 0% VAT (reverse charge); otherwise 19% VAT applies.
What if we decide not to deploy after the report?
Then the report did its job. It is vendor-independent and written on open standards: keep it, shelve it, or hand it to another team. There is no obligation beyond phase one.
